Joan, an American indie pop duo who impressed Thai fans with romantic songs and sparked 90s nostalgia at the Very Festival in Bangkok for two years, will give their first full-scale concert at Lido Connect, Rama I Road, on Wednesday at 8pm.

Formed in 2017, the duo comprises Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford who grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, and ran in similar circles going to the same church and attending the same college before their paths crossed.

Thomas was formerly in the band Canopy Climbers and Rutherford in Brothers + Company before they met. The duo both cited college as a time when their love of music really bloomed and sparked a desire to not only write and perform songs but also to tour.

The pair began to write music and perform together in 2016. The first time they wrote together they penned Take Me On. Over the next few weeks, they began to write and record songs. They then released their debut single Take Me On in 2017.

They released their first two mini albums, Portar in 2019 and Cloudy in the following year. Two more mini albums, Hi and Bye, were released in late 2021. The duo released their first album Superglue in April this year.

Their influences shine through confidently, whether it's 80s synth-pop, mid-90s pop rock or 2000s R&B, but any fan will instantly recognise the record as a product of Joan.

For the upcoming "Joan Live In Bangkok", fans can expect to be serenaded with popular singles such as Drive All Night, Love Somebody Like You, I Love U First, Something Special, So Good and Loner.

Joan has been covered by many national and international publications including People Magazine, NME and Esquire.

Tickets cost 2,300 baht and can be purchased from ticketmelon.com.
