'PPAL49 X Sardine @Scope Promsri' is a joint effort between PPAL Cafe, the homeware brand Sardine and the luxurious condo Scope Promsri on Sukhumvit 49.

The colourful PPAL49 cafe faces a lush garden and serves as a green nook hidden deep in the soi. Not only does it serve coffee basics and signature drinks but also light bites and desserts.

This café is decorated in a modern minimal style, designed by Chattrin "Pok" Thummachairoj, co-founder of PPAL Cafe and Thai coffee expert. He sources beans from around the world including local farmers in Chaing Rai, who supply him with chemical-free beans. There's a shelf filled with colourful items from Sardine to spruce up your condo with. You definitely can have a few photo-ops despite the cafe's modest size.

Looking for coffee with a twist? Try the signature drink Prom Pal (B150), which blends coffee, soda and plum syrup for a bittersweet and fizzy sensation. For smooth and sweet sips to start your day with, Pal D (B120) should do the trick with a trio of coffee, milk and homemade vanilla syrup.

For something savoury, the Sausage cheese sandwich (B140/B170) offers crunchy sourdough slices with juicy Japanese sausages and Italian cheese.

While customers come to PPAL49 for coffee, they may want to stay for its dessert selection. Mom's banana cake (B185) is an indulgent trio of spongy banana cake, caramelised bananas and caramel sauce that can satisfy your sweet tooth without being saccharine. Citrusy and refreshing, Homemade lemon tart (B120) features sweet and sour lemon curd made from freshly squeezed lemon juice on a thin crust.

Being a neighbourhood place, the cafe opens daily from 7am-4.30pm. If you happen to be in the area, pop in for the banana cake. Call 02-821-5664 or visit scopepromsri.com.
