The highly-anticipated Red Cross Fair will be back with food, products and fun activities at Lumpini Park, Rama IV Road, starting this Friday and running daily from 11am to 10pm until Dec 18.
Held under the theme "Century Of Charity" to mark its 100th anniversary since its inception at Sanam Luang in 1923, the 11-day event will be packed with booths offering big discounts on consumer products of various genres, sumptuous dishes and fun games as well as raffle draws from over 300 organisations from both public and private sectors.
Visitors will learn about the four venues where the fair took place before it was moved to Lumpini Park in 2018. This is also an opportunity to witness activities that were popular at the Red Cross Fair of yesteryear.
They include a parade of marching bands, a dog show, a hoop takraw match, a lion dance, Krabi Krabong traditional Thai martial art, ancient Thai boxing and muay dtap jaak, or blindfold boxing. There will also be a ballroom dancing space open to all at Lumpini Recreation Center on Dec 15 from 5pm.
For those who can't make it to the fair, they can enjoy many fun activities presented online at redcrossfair.com. They include an traditional Thai costume contest, a virtual merit-making trip to nine destinations, online fortune-telling, a simulated kite-flying contest, an online haunted house and a screening of 17 rare short films as well as games. This is the first time that Red Cross raffle tickets will also be available for online purchases.
To help save the environment, visitors are invited to bring their own cloth bags and take public transportation to the fair. They are also encouraged to dress in traditional Thai costumes.
There is no admission fee. Visit redcrossfundraising.org or call 02-256-4440 and 02-255-9911.
