Port gave their departing chairwoman Nualphan Lamsam a befitting farewell with a 3-0 rout of Ratchaburi that lifted them to second place in Thai League 1 at PAT Stadium on Monday night.

It was Port's last match of the first leg of the season and Nualphan's final appearance at the venue as the club's top executive.

Nualphan, 57, has stepped down as Port chief as she will be contesting the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) presidential election in February.

She is seen as hot favourite to win the election on Feb 8.

Nualphan took over the club in 2015 and guided them to the FA Cup title in 2019.

At PAT Stadium on Monday, both teams were in attacking mood and after Ratchaburi's Chotiphat Poomkaew was denied by Port goalkeeper Somporn Yos, Barros Tardeli of the home team saw his header warded off by Kampon Pathomattakul.

The deadlock only lasted 10 minutes as a move by Pakorn Prempak was cleared by the Ratchaburi defence but the ball popped to Noboru Shimura to head it home.

Port's second goal came in the 25th minute when Suphanan Burirat crossed the ball for Worachit Kanitsribumphen to double the lead.

Ratchaburi were left with 10 men after the hour mark when defender Mehdi Terki fouled Worachit in an effort to foil a Port counter-attack and was red-carded straight away by the referee.

During injury time, Port grabbed their third goal goal of the night through Teerasak Poeiphimai.

Port took over second place in the league table with 29 points, trailing leaders Bangkok United, who have two games in hand, by four points.

In the wake of Nualphan's departure, her brother Chalermchoke Lamsam has been appointed as the club's new president and Sara Lamsam honorary chairman.
