SAMUT PRAKAN: Eighty-one Thais returned from Europe early on Thursday morning, were deemed to be free of fever and immediately taken into quarantine.
They arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport from Frankfurt on Lufthansa flight LH772 at 12.50am.
They were received by Gen Paripat Palasin, deputy joint chief of staff, Suvarnabhumi airport director Kittipong Kittikachorn and officials from the defence permanent secretary's office and the Disease Control Department.
The returnees had been stranded in nine European countries by the coronavirus lockdown - Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Eighty of them were placed in 14-day quarantine at H2Do Hotel in Bang Bo district of Samut Prakan. The other was a diplomat returning from Italy, who was taken to a different quarantine facility.
Another 197 Thais were due to return from Bangladesh later on Thursday.
On Wednesday 13 Thais arrived back from Ukraine, 171 from the Philippines and 129 from India. All went into quarantine.
