A man wades through floodwater in his village in Muang district of Suphan Buri after a dike burst on Tuesday.
Days of heavy downpours caused the Sra Buathong dike in Muang district to burst. Village Group 5 in tambon Sanamkhi and Village Group 7 in tambon Taling Chan were inundated. More than 10 households were badly affected and more than 300 rai of paddy fields about to be harvested were damaged.
Watcharin Kerd-iem, head of Village Group 7, blamed the construction of the dike and the digging of a canal in his village for the flooding in his community. His village experienced flooding at least three times a year as excessive water from nearby areas flew into the village's canal.
Residents from the two flood-hit villages will join forces to pressure relevant agencies to solve repeated flooding in their communities, said Mr Watcharin.
