Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB) is calling for interested artists and art collectives to apply for participation in its third edition, "BAB 2022", which is running at many different venues, from public spaces to virtual platforms, until Feb 23 next year.

The theme for this year is "Chaos: Calm" to reflect the predicaments the world has endured over the past years, from the Covid-19 pandemic to climate change and socio-political unrest, as well as to offer a glimpse of clarity and calm.

Lasting for four months, the art festival aims to transform the bustling city of Bangkok into a lively hub that celebrates art, creativity and culture. It is accompanied by engaging public programmes including publications, educational talks, events and more.

Led by Prof Dr Apinan Poshyananda as chief executive and artistic director, the curatorial team is joined by Nigel Hurst, Loredana Pazzini-Paracciani, Jirat Ratthawongjirakul and Chomwan Weeraworawit.

Eligible artists must be above the age of 20 and there is no limit to the format or medium of their artworks or practices, as well as where they are based. Artists from anywhere in the world are encouraged to apply.

Only 300 applicants are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis and they must submit the applications by themselves through bkkartbiennale.com/opencall by Nov 30.
