The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is staging the "Hua Lamphong In Your Eyes" exhibition about Bangkok's historic central railway station, daily from 9am to 5pm until Jan 16.

After serving as Bangkok's rail hub for 105 years, Hua Lamphong station is no longer busy following the development of Bang Sue Grand Station.

The exhibition is a chance for everyone to enjoy the historical value and outstanding architecture of this railway station which was constructed in 1910 during the reign of King Rama V. They are also invited to learn more about its heritage through 10 iconic landmarks.

They include a pillar marking the inauguration of the Thai railway network; the three-headed elephant monument which was once used as an underground bunker; a mail-delivery bridge connecting the railway station with a post office; old-fashioned steam locomotives which were first used during World War II; and the SRT Prestige luxury train.

This is also an opportunity to take in the contemporary atmosphere in the central hall which features a combination of the Italian neo-renaissance style, a classic interior and art nouveau.

Classical music will be performed live in the afternoon on every weekend and the exhibition will showcase a selection of images from the "Hua Lamphong Through The Lens" photo contest from today.

A special postage stamp collection will be given away to everyone who checks in at all the 10 landmarks.
