Legendary Thai pianist and composer Nat Yontararak will take the stage next week in what will be a historic show to mark his five-decade-long career in classical music.

Organised by Sala Sudasiri Sobha, in collaboration with the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture and Thai Beverage, the "50 Years Nat Yontararak The Pianist" concert will take place in the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, on Aug 16 at 7pm.

This is a great chance to experience a full live performance of Nat's most treasured compositions, as well as masterpieces that have been acclaimed across Europe.

"Returning to perform at the Thailand Cultural Centre, where my artistic journey began, is incredibly special," said Nat, one of the musical geniuses who has brought international acclaim to Thailand. "This concert celebrates 50 years since my first public performance, my first composition, and my journey as a pianist, composer and teacher," he added.

The concert will feature a repertoire that showcases the breadth of his work, starting with Kai Kaew (1987), the first Thai song arranged for solo piano, originally performed at the inaugural opening of the Thailand Cultural Centre in 1987.

Other inspirational pieces include Moonlight Dreaming (1979), which gained wide recognition; and Longing For You (1979) whose lyrics and melody were composed by Nat, featuring guest singer Buntita "Natt" Prachamorn from The Voice Thailand. Another highlight, True Friend (1986), will feature Tul Tulanan, lead singer of Fivera, a crossover voice group reputed for seamlessly blending opera with pop music.

The audiences will also be treated to a performance of Piano Sonata No.1 Glory To Our Great Kings, the first piano sonata in Thai classical music history that integrates melodies from various reigns of the Chakri dynasty. This piece has been performed in over 100 concerts worldwide, including a special performance at the United Nations in New York City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of King Rama IX's ascension to the throne.

The programme will also include one movement from Siam Sonata, which captures the essence of Northeastern Thai music, and Likay Sonata: The Prodigal Son inspired by the biblical story, featuring Polish drummer Lukasz Kurzydlo, known for his unique blend of Eastern and Western music.

All songs will be performed on Yamaha's latest CFX grand piano for the first time in Thailand, promising an unparalleled musical experience.

Tickets cost 1,000, 1,800, 2,500 and 3,000 baht and can be purchased from thaiticketmajor.com or via Line: @SalaSudasiriSobha.
