There are pretty good lunch deals in town and not only at restaurants, but hotels, too.
Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit's Voila! is offering lunch at B999++ (soft drink package B250++ and adult beverage package B850++) for an unlimited a la carte lunch. What this means is that you can order as much as you like from their a la carte menu and repeatedly if something catches your fancy.
Hotel executive chef Nicolas Basset has put together a good mix of Asian and Western dishes for diners to choose from. Begin with the Classic Caesar salad or an Antipasti platter of cold cuts, which has four different types of cheese, marinated olives and condiments. Or begin with the Prawn and avocado cocktail, then move on to the Teriyaki salmon. If you're in the mood for some Thai, try the Som tum, which can be made spicy to suit your palate. Hot entrees include Soup of the day or Truffle and Parmesan risotto.
For mains, the pastas include spaghetti, linguine or penne with choice of sauce: pesto, bolognese, tomato, arrabiata and my personal choice, aglio e olio. I tired the Linguine arrabiata and found it well doused with sauce, just how I like it! From the grill, the choice lies between Beef tenderloin or Chicken breast, both served in a mushroom cream and mustard sauce. For fish lovers, there is the Pan-seared sea bass with mango sauce, Tom yum goong, Pad phak ruam or wok-fried vegetables in oyster sauce. Don't forget to order sides in potatoes, which are cooked differently daily.
Hotel executive pastry chef Chris Busschaert has put a trio of dessert with this menu. The choice is between a Fruit platter, a Mini pastry platter or ice cream, which comes in five flavours. The best choice is the mini pastry platter, which comes with macarons, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, chocolate brownie, a lemon and raspberry tart and a cheese cake. Small bites, but there's more from where that came from and it changes regularly. It's a buffet!
The lunch deal is available seven days a week and on weekends you get complimentary access to the hotel pool, as well. Guests who book through the website enjoy a 30% off on their reservations, until Aug 31. Accor Plus members get additional 10% discount (food only). So why not make an entire day out of it!
