The Mall Bangkapi has transformed its Grand Hall on the ground floor into charming attractions for lovers of Japan during "The Mall Japan Discovery 2020: The Enchanted Four Seasons Onsen", which is running until Sunday.

Visitors are invited to witness the natural beauty of each season in Japan through replicas of four scenic onsen (hot spring) resort towns.

They are Nyuto Onsen, a hidden gem during winter in Akita prefecture; Hahone Onsen in Kanagawa prefecture where Mount Fuji can be seen amidst cherry blossoms in spring; Arima Onsen in Hyogo prefecture, which is reputed for its gold and silver spring water; and Yufuin Onsen in Oita prefecture, which is popular for its autumn foliage.

This is also an opportunity to try a variety of authentic Japanese dishes commonly consumed in each season. The winter menu includes Harima-nada oysters; jinisukan mutton with juicy and tender meat from Hokkaido; and kushikatsu (deep-fried skewered meat and vegetables).

Springtime is known for cuisine that incorporates fresh vegetables, baby greens, as well as hotaru-ika or firefly squid and sakura taiyaki or Tai fish-shaped confectionery.

Suitable as a cooldown for summertime are zaru soba or cold soba noodles made from buckwheat and yuzu ice cream made from 100% yuzu citrus fruit.

Delicious dishes suitable for autumn are sanma fish, which is naturally sweet and oily; sweet potato pie and apple pie with 48 layers in the crust from Osaka; and Japanese chestnuts.

Other special dishes available at the event are Yokote yakisoba from Akita prefecture, Oita wagyu, and Kobe beef. Also expect to shop for souvenirs, kitchenware and beauty products imported from Japan.

There will also be a mini-concert by Kacha Nontanun on Saturday and SY51 on Sunday, both starting at 3.30pm.

The fair will repeat at The Mall Ngamwongwan from Nov 12-18 and The Mall Korat from Nov 20-29.

Call 02-310-2352.
