Sathon's mini park

Hide Park offers respite for hoomans and doggos alike

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE
Sathon's mini park

A short walk into Sathon 12, Hide Park is on the corner that connects the soi to Silom 9. Use Google Maps to see what I mean. You can't really miss it though, as tall bushes and trees that spring out between buildings will definitely catch your eyes. Behind a wrought iron gate lies Hide Park, which occupies an L-shaped land that's filled with greenery, a waterfall and a bar in the back.

Soft and easy tunes and occasional woofs will be the soundtrack to your picnic in the city. Yes, you can bring your good boys and girls here and treat them to exclusive canine snacks too but more on that later.

Hide Park is the brainchild of Ston Tantraporn and Sirirat Kasemsuwan. Sirirat owns Italian restaurant Di Farina, which is opposite Hide Park, and the cousins shared a dream of opening a restaurant in a garden. To get you into the mood for a picnic, all dishes made in Di Farina's kitchen restaurant are brought to you in a basket.

Japan-inspired Kyoto's spring (B280) is a refreshing start, featuring cold chunky tofu cubes served on a bed of fresh leaves and edible flowers. I enjoy sweet peas, crisp rocket leaves and juicy tomato but could have used more of the tasty sesame dressing.

For something that's both dessert and savoury, try Crazy crab (B280). It is basically cheesecake in the form of pancake stuffed with crab meat and drenched in cheesy chive sauce. The spongey texture of the cake goes quite well with delicate and sweet crab meat.

For something you can really sink your teeth into, I recommend Hide Park burger (B380). The buns are nicely brown with a slightly crunchy surface. The sizeable, juicy and house-made patty is generously slathered in Bearnaise sauce yet the flavour of wagyu beef still comes through.

If you're big on desserts, try the Nutella pizza (B250) for a sweet end to your meal (but due to its size I suppose you can have it as a main course, too). I'm not a big fan of the hazelnut cocoa spread but I find the pizza quite pleasant. You get the rich texture of Nutella on the thin and crispy dough while three berries on top add refreshing and fruity contrast. Cherry clafoutis tart (B280) looks so dainty being surrounded by edible flowers, whipped creams and three berries. I enjoy the tasty threesome between warm and buttery tart, milky cream and berry bursts but the flavour of almond should have been more pronounced.

Even though Hide Park has a small bar in the back, their drink list is long. Get your camera out and perhaps do a slo-mo video as Iced blue moon Thai tea (B180) turns cloudy blue when you pour milk into it. There are many cocktails and other spirits on offer for after-work session. Bourbon-based Blossom sour (B320) has this flowery touch, thanks to elderflower and jasmine syrup.

Hoomans can treat their doggos to no-additive no-sugar ice creams and other treats from 4 Paws & A Pair. I saw one lucky boy who quickly licked up Minty Fresh Dog Kiss flavour.

Hide Park is a good choice of a quiet winding down after a busy day in CBD. They're planning to add a glasshouse and more space to the venue.
