Chinese restaurant Dynasty at Centara Grand at CentralWorld has recently launched their dim sum delivery service so you can satiate your dumpling craving in the comfort of your own home.

You're likely to be spoilt for choice here as there are 43 types of mouth-watering dim sums to choose from. You can either order them individually with prices affordably starting from B65 or as a set of 10, 15 and 20 items and they are auspiciously priced B688, B999 and B1,288, respectively. Number eight is considered lucky in Chinese culture. The more you know.

Pro tip: When you order a set, you can mix and match any items and this means you can opt for items that are individually priced higher first to get more value for your baht.

My dim sum party for one arrived neatly and individually packed. On the deep-fried stuff front, I have Snow fish spring roll, Duck spring roll and Bean curd roll with prawn filling. The first one is a sliver of snow fish inside a netted golden roll. It gives you a crunchy chew with Sriracha mayo to round it off. The duck roll features shredded duck meat wrapped inside a thin shell with hoisin to add a nutty and savoury flavour. The third has a succulent filling of prawn ready to burst out of the thin and crispy tofu skin wrapping.

I tried two baos -- Sweet cream buns and Barbecue pork buns. Both have pillowy white shells that are not too dense or too soft to give you satisfying chews when you really sink your teeth into them. The sweet cream filling tastes mild and the barbecue filling has bits of pork in a savoury thick sauce.

Some of the dumplings I tried come with a frill to make them more memorable (and Instagrammble). Good 'ol Steamed siew mai is generously topped with tobiko. Seaweed roll comes with a white fungus for extra crunch. Salmon roll is garnished with red, yellow and green bell peppers. Steam river prawn is topped with bamboo pith for a slightly crunchy texture.

However, a standout dumpling is the Steamed blue crab claw. The delicate crab meat is covered in a juicy ball of prawn and pork but manages to come through. Steamed Australian scallop with crab meat sauce may look very appetising but the taste of scallop is overshadowed by other ingredients.

I would be remiss had I not recommended the Fried rice with minced pork and black olive aka kao phad nam liab. Each grain is darkened and thoroughly coated with flavour, a sign of fried rice done right. The cashew nuts become softer but retain some crunchiness inside. Throw in lime bits and chili into the mix to add more oomph to this already flavourful fish.

Another good wok job is Fried rice vermicelli Singaporean style, which gives you that wok hei while the noodle strands don't stick together. Last but not least is the Char siu, which offers a hint of honey aroma as a prelude and succulent meat as the main event. A much more sophisticated version of your average moo daeng.
