To commemorate the 25th anniversary of its iconic Caliber 9C watch, Grand Seiko recently organised the World Of Grand Seiko event and launched the Grand Seiko pop-up store at Crown Atrium, King Power Rangnam.
This pop-up store captures the excellence of Japanese aesthetic design, top-notch craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology to craft highly accurate timepieces. The dial design draws inspiration from the surroundings around the Grand Seiko's Shizukuishi Studio, the birthplace of its exceptional mechanical movements.
Akira Sakairi, a managing director of Seiko Thailand, said: "In 1960, Grand Seiko unveiled its first watch, which had a traditional yet attractive form and was designed in a basic yet opulent Japanese manner. The 9S Caliber model underwent a complete overhaul before being introduced in 1998. It embodied the pursuit of the finest perfection and marked the start of a new era for the company's mechanical watchmaking. The initial version of the 9S Caliber was created over 25 years ago, and has now grown to be the most functional mechanical movement series."
The Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection Tentagraph: SLGC001 is on display after making its debut at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023. The 10-beat movement powers the chronograph, and the power reserve lasts around three days. It was created with the idea of "Gifts from Nature" and features a strong titanium casing and lightweight band that are 30% more scratch-resistant than stainless steel. The dial also features a picture of the magnificent Iwate mountain.
Another highlight is the Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection White Birch: SLGH005. It is powered by Caliber 9SA5, which has accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day. The design exemplifies Grand Seiko's "Alive in Time" philosophy, which won the GPHG Men's Watch Prize 2021 and the Red Dot Design Award's Best of the Best in the Product Design category in 2022.
