Hundreds of shortlisted excellent Thai designs are on display at Bangkok's shopping centre as they vie for the Design Excellence Award (DEmark Award).

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is organising DEmark Show 2023 at ICONSIAM shopping centre in Khlong San district until this Sunday.

The event, which occupies spaces on four floors at the shopping centre, showcases 572 shortlisted entries. They are among 686 entries sent in from around the country over the past three months for the annual DEmark Award contest, which celebratest its 16th anniversary this year.

The competition covers seven categories of product and service designs, including designs of digital systems, services and platforms, which debut this year.

Award winners will be announced this September.

"The Design Excellence Award or DEmark Award is an important mission of the DITP and has been organised annually for 16 years in a row to make the creative industry a main engine of national economic development," said DITP director-general Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit.

"It is also aimed to create competitiveness and enable Thai businesses to cope well with economic and trade circumstances, adapt to changes in the future and survive in global arenas with stability and sustainability," he added.

Last year's winners included the process of making a unique garment in terms of aesthetics and values while incorporating the idea of zero-waste and the concept of creating spaces that enhance the coffee-drinking experience.
