A full-size tennis court took over the MoMA PS1 courtyard, whose surface features artwork by acclaimed artist KAWS.

The activity was a part of Uniqlo's "Next Generation Development Program", which helps young people around the world to become the best through sports and creativity.

The global apparel retailer also launched the "Around The World With Roger Federer" event series, which explores the intersection of art, tennis, culture and philanthropy.

In addition, a video series follows Uniqlo's global brand ambassador as he explores his favourite cities in 24 hours.

First, the tennis legend goes to Columbus Park in Lower Manhattan to face off against young chess master Tani Adewumi. On the Lower East Side, he enjoys a regular slice at Scarr's Pizza and learns about pizza making and tossing from owner Scarr Pimentel.

His interest in contemporary art then takes him to the Museum of Modern Art for a special behind-the-scenes tour.

Federer then visits Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the Bronx to surprise and thank kids who made him a thank-you video when he retired from the tennis tour.

"I love New York -- one of the greatest cities in the world with some of the best tennis fans in the world. This city is full of energy, passion and so much style. This city always makes me feel at home," he said of his day in the Big Apple, which is captured in four episodes.

The video series started in Tokyo, presented in six episodes. Each episode also shows how Uniqlo's LifeWear outfits make Federer look great for every activity and occasion.
