Swarovski pays homage to Disney's century

Swarovski and Disney have enjoyed a rich and longstanding collaboration for almost two decades. This year is particularly special as it marks Disney's 100th anniversary.

The Austrian crystal brand pays tribute to Disney's 100 Years of Wonder through jewellery and home décor products.

The company was started on Oct 16, 1923, when Walt Disney signed a contract with a distributor for his series of animated Alice Comedies.

Three years later Mickey Mouse was born as a silent cartoon at a new studio on Hyperion Avenue in Hollywood.

Sound was synchronised in the third cartoon, Steamboat Willie, which premiered on Nov 18, 1928. It was the official debut of both Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse while Donald Duck first appeared in The Wise Little Hen released in 1934.

The Disney100 x Swarovski collection stars these three iconic characters, whose fun-loving spirit is captured in pendants, chains and earrings embellished with precision-cut pavé crystals and oversized faceted crystals.

The home décor pieces are crafted from Aurora Borealis crystal, named after the Northern Lights. The Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse figurines respectively feature 530 and 638 facets while Donald Duck is expertly cut with 609 facets.

Swarovski will celebrate the holiday season with a calendar filled with colourful ornaments, necklaces, and a playful set of stickers as well as the Mickey and Friends Holiday Cheer Limited Edition with six beloved Disney characters decorating the Christmas tree.
