Bangkok United moved three points clear at the top spot of the Thai League 1 table after a convincing 2-0 away victory over title rivals Port on Saturday night.

Rungrath Poomchanthuek put the Angels ahead just five minutes into the match and Willian Mota put the icing on the cake with a second in stoppage time.

Both teams had 19 points at kick-off with Port enjoying a slight edge on goal difference.

Mahmoud Eid crossed the ball from the left side for Rungrath to guide it into the net.

However, Bangkok United had to replace Rungrath with Chayawat Srinawong in the last minute of the first half after the scorer suffered an injury.

In the second half, Bangkok United's Everton Goncalves was denied by Port goalkeeper Somporn Yos.

Port had their chances to level the score but Hamilton Soares and Barros Tardeli failed in their attempts to put the ball into the net.

A last-gasp counter-attack by the Angels led to a spectacular goal by Brazilian striker Willian Mota to seal a well-deserved victory.

Also on Saturday night, hosts Khon Kaen United shared a point with Uthai Thani following a 2-2 draw.

Uthai Thani went ahead after 10 minutes when Ricardo Santos converted a penalty. Brenner equalised for Khon Kaen on 32 minutes.

Uthai Thani took the lead again in the 72nd minute when from Ricardo converted another penalty but the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Possawee Muanmart was sent off in the seventh minute of injury time.

This allowed the hosts to tie the score through Jung Han-Cheol.
