The Tourism Authority of Thailand has joined forces with the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration, Thai Federation of Provincial Tourist Associations and the Association of Domestic Travel to launch an e-marketing platform.

Called the Tourism Department Store, the site allows tour agents and hospitality service providers to offer their packages and promotions. Product categories include culture tourism, CSR outing and Otop Village.

The site doesn't support e-transactions. If you are interested in any products or services, email addresses and phone numbers are provided for further contact.

Thailand by bus

Nakhonchai Air bus operator has launched a 10% discount for passengers who purchase a return ticket on all routes.

The aim is to promote inter-provincial bus travel and the recent "Car Free Day" campaign. The promotion will be available until Oct 10.

In addition, the company is offering a "Buy Two, Pay One" promotion from now until the end of this month. The offer is available on every route, but limited to travel between 5.30am and 3pm. Tickets can be purchased over the counter and via its call centre on 1624.

To help flood victims in Ubon Ratchathani, the company also provides free delivery of donation boxes.

AIRLINES UPDATE

- AirAsia will launch direct flights between Bangkok and Varanasi, India, in the next two months.

The service will be available four times a week. It will link culture Buddhist pilgrims and other travellers from Thailand to the 4,000-year-old holy city on the Ganges River and the site of Lord Buddha's first sermon.

The first flight will take off from Don Mueang Airport on Nov 25, departing 12.05pm and arriving in Varanasi at 1.50pm. The inbound flight will leave the Indian city at 2.20pm and arrive in Bangkok at 6.50pm. Travel time is about three hours.

In addition, the airline will also be temporarily introducing a direct route between Chiang Rai and Hangzhou, China. The service begins on Dec 1 and runs until March 27.

The flights will be available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The outbound flight will depart Don Mueang Airport at 5.30pm and arrive in Hangzhou at 10.45pm. The inbound flight will leave at 11.50pm and reach Bangkok at 3.05am. Travel time is about four hours.

- Bangkok Airways has launched the "Fly Fest" promotion, offering a one-way ticket starting from 990 baht (net) on popular domestic routes, including Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Bangkok-Chiang Rai, Bangkok-Phuket and Bangkok-Krabi. Reservations can be made from today until Sept 27 on flights from now until July 15.

HOTEL DEALS & UPDATE

- Bric Box Hotel Buri Ram has launched the "Co-Racing Space Event" package for those who want to wake up a short walk from MotoGP PTT Thailand Grand Prix 2019 on Oct 4-6.

Located next to Chang International Circuit, the hotel allows guests to stay close to the race. Prices for a three-night stay during the event start from 32,000 baht for one guest and 50,000 baht for two guests.

The package includes a room for three nights, daily breakfast, lunch and dinner, 24-hour free flow drinks and a complimentary minibar.

- Anurak Community Lodge in Surat Thani won the global 2019 SKAL Sustainable Tourism Award in the Rural Accommodation category.

The award was launched in 2002 to promote sustainable and responsible tourism around the world. A total of 56 entries from 25 countries participated this year. Anurak Community Lodge was one of nine winners.

Located next to Khao Sok National Park, the resort offers 20 eco-friendly rooms including two safari-style tents. Every room features en suite bathroom with rain showers and hot water, with natural soap and shampoo provided in refillable containers. Single-use plastics, styrofoam and cardboard plates have been banned, while an on-site recycling station has been set up, along with a composting area. A grey water treatment filter system is used to recycle water for plants.

- Mela Garden in Saraburi's Muak Lek district is offering discounts on nightly stays from Sunday to Thursday.

The property features 22 rooms, including stone cottages, swimming pool, coffee & tea room and a restaurant. Prices per night with breakfast for two are 3,000 baht for a Deluxe room (64m²). For the same room on Friday or Saturday, the price is 3,500 baht.

For a group of four, the resort is offering 6,000 baht per night on weekdays for its Stone Cottage (145m²). The unit is priced at 7,000 baht per night on Friday or Saturday.
