Devout Buddhists are invited to say goodbye to 2020 in a calm way and start 2021 with mindfulness through a series of religious activities at the Buddhadasa Indapanyo Archives, or Suan Mokh Bangkok, on Thursday and Friday.

Called "Pee Mai Chewit Mai Duay Chai Thee Sa-ngop Yen Lae Pen Prayot", the two-day event aims to encourage all Buddhists to start the New Year in a way that is both calm and helpful to others.

On Thursday, the last day of the year, participants will chant, listen to dharma, practise meditation and offer food or alms to monks in the morning, and join other activities in the afternoon, including breathing meditation, an art meditation/workshop, a dharma tour and relaxation with Zen flute music.

The evening will also start with chanting, meditation and a dharma talk by the late Buddhadasa Bhikkhu. Then, get spiritually detoxified through the crystal singing bowls technique and find inspiration in a series of talks by an artist, a psychologist, and revered monks.

As a spiritual version of a countdown to the New Year, everyone will chant together for the last time from 11.30pm until the wee hours. The finale will be a chant by monks. Meanwhile, early on Friday -- the first day of 2021 -- participants will once again chant and meditate at 5.30am and listen to a dharma talk by Phra Ajahn Nuanchan Kittipanyo at 6.30am. The two-day event will conclude with alm-giving from 7am to 8am.

Buddhadasa Indapanyo Archives is located at Suan Rot Fai, Chatuchak. Places are limited. Prior registrations are mandatory via register.bia.or.th.
