Love is in the air

Chopard's latest perfume is all about roses

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Each year, Chopard's co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele presents its red-carpet high-jewellery pieces, worn by actresses ascending the staircase of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

The bottle's design is inspired by high jewellery from Chopard's Red Carpet collection.

Despite the cancellation of the Festival de Cannes due to the pandemic, the Swiss maison released the Red Carpet Collection 2020 and captured the glamour of "la montée des marches" in the new Love Chopard perfume.

The seductive scent was composed by Alberto Morillas, a master perfumer at Swiss fragrance company Firmenich.

Six different rose notes, including the finest Bulgarian rose oil, unfold in a modern and feminine scent. The Spanish nose definitely hit the right notes as Scheufele loves roses.

"I need to be surrounded by flowers, again and again. Roses are my favourite. They are, without hesitation, the most beautiful way to a woman's heart," said Scheufele.

In creating Love Chopard, Morillas was immediately drawn to the queen of flowers.

"I was inspired to play with its extraordinary versatility and reinvent this eternal theme, imagining a whirl of the most gorgeous roses in the world, spreading their aura like a red carpet and leading the dance from top to trail," said Morillas, the first perfumer honoured by the Fragrance Foundation with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award.

Containing 90% natural ingredients, the eau de parfum is in line with Chopard's Journey to Sustainable Luxury philosophy.

Half of the 30 natural essences are from Naturals Together, Firmenich's international sustainable excellence programme.

In addition, Love Chopard is formulated with a certified natural alcohol from sustainably grown and harvested plants, but without controversial ingredients such as phthalates and genetically modified organisms.

The red bottle and its top outline a precious flower of hearts, both entirely sculpted in the recyclable glass set with gold details.

The design is inspired by the brand's high jewellery, unveiled annually as an increasingly large collection of pieces equalling the edition of the international film festival.

For instance, last year's nature-themed Red Carpet 2020 collection featured 73 pieces to mark the 73rd edition of the Festival de Cannes.
