The oldest watchmaker in continuous operation for 266 years, Vacheron Constantin positions itself as a maison for connoisseurs.

The general public, however, can get to know more about the Swiss luxury brand by visiting its "One Of Not Many" exhibition currently held at Siam Paragon's Hall of Fame.

The history of the brand dates back to September 1755, when Jean-Marc Vacheron, at the age of 24, opened a watchmaking workshop in Geneva's Saint-Gervais district.

His grandson Jacques Barthélémi Vacheron took the helm of the family business in 1810. Nine years later, he partnered with businessman François Constantin and the company became Vacheron et Constantin, whose motto was "Do better if possible, and that is always possible".

Today, the maison focuses on limited production, in order to offer the highest level of quality in haute horlogerie. Accordingly, Vacheron Constantin defines itself and its timepieces as "one of not many".

The exhibition is a partnership between the brand and its Thai distributor Pendulum.

"Vacheron Constantin has distinguished itself with expertise in classic, sports and jewellery watches as well as in high complications. Over the years, the brand has created many collections that are uniquely set apart by their aesthetics and exquisiteness of their internal mechanisms," said Yuki Srikarnchana, managing director of Pendulum.

Highlights include white gold reinterpretations of the Historiques American 1921, whose centenary is celebrated under the theme "Classic with a Twist", and the newly-launched Égérie women's timepieces combining haute couture with haute horlogerie.

Running until June 13, the exhibition also presents watches from the Patrimony, Traditionnelle, Overseas and Fiftysix families, with a range of mid to high complications including the exclusive Traditionnelle Tourbillon, Traditionnelle Chronograph Tourbillon and Overseas Perpetual Calendar.
