A casualty of the 1970s quartz crisis, Nivada Grenchen has completely recovered and is ready to expand its global presence.

At the Central International Watch Fair 2022, Pendulum introduced its Chronoking model, distinguished by the date located at 12 o'clock and two debossed sub-dials. The 38mm diameter stainless steel case has a black bezel with large numerals, giving the watch a bold personality.

Nivada Grenchen was founded in 1926 by Jacob Schneider, and four years later, it became one of the first companies to manufacture automatic watches.

The Swiss brand earned a reputation for purpose-built tool watches such as the Antarctic, which was worn by members of the US Navy's Deep Freeze 1 team during their expedition to the South Pole from 1955 to 1956.

In 1963, the Chronomaster debuted as a rugged chronograph waterproof up to 200m. The Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver (CASD) offered various functions that catered to clientele that included pilots, professional divers and racing drivers.

The success of the CASD led to the introduction of a variant, the Chronoking, in the late 1960s.

The new Chronoking has a modernised matte black dial, with the broad-arrow hands dropped for more cutting-edge hands and with a flash of bright red on the second hand.

Water-resistant to 100m, the chronograph is powered by an automatic winding movement.

Chronoking matched with a brown or black leather strap.
