KHON KAEN: Leading technology company Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co Ltd recently organised the first-ever “Huawei Thailand Education Summit 2023” under the theme “Accelerate the Digital Journey of Education” in Khon Kaen Province, Thailand, introducing the latest trends and technologies with the aim of elevating the readiness and response of Thailand’s education sector to changes in the digital era.

Prof Dr Supachai Pathumnakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), honored the summit with his visit and addressed the major function of MHESI, which is to enhance manpower and ensure excellence as key factors towards strengthening Thailand’s global competitiveness and sustainability. He explained that to further develop and drive Thailand towards Industry 4.0, talent development is essential, particularly in the digital sector, as technology is the foundation of every industry’s development.

Prof Dr Supachai Pathumnakul elaborated: “Last year, MHESI collaborated with Huawei Thailand to release the Thailand National Digital Talent Development White Paper, the study results of which show that Thailand is set to encounter a digital personnel shortage as high as 500,000 talents by the year 2030, especially personnel specialising in 5G, IoT, and Cloud in Level 4 (Advanced) technology. Today, I would like to congratulate Khon Kaen University and Huawei Thailand for the laying the foundation of the Huawei ICT Academy Support Center. Talent incubation must proceed through co-creation between academic institutes and the industrial sector in order to create a society that is ready to sustainably support graduates of every generation.”

All of these play an important role in transforming Khon Kaen University and driving us towards Paperless or Digitalization standards.”

“I am so grateful for events like this, which enable us to witness forthcoming technological trends and allows IT companies who have world-class industrial experience to showcase potential technologies and innovations that will inspire new ideas for various applications suitable for us and other respective organisations,” he added.

Mr Kevin Cheng, President of Thailand Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co Ltd, explained that the education sector is one of Huawei’s major markets in Thailand: “Huawei not only selects technologies and solutions in response to requirements, but also ensures the promotion and development of the entire ecosystem to maximise the utilisation of technologies to elevate Thailand’s education and teaching systems. The best technologies may not be suitable for everyone, and as such, selecting what truly meets the requirements of an organisation is better when responding to its mission and goals. As an ICT leader, Huawei is committed to collaborating with clients and partners to apply network, AI, cloud computing, and other technologies to the education system, as well as to developing human resources with innovative competencies, accelerating scientific research innovations, and narrowing the digital divide of education resource development.”
