Visitors flock to Phichit for worship ceremony

Until the end of the month, Wat Tha Luang has been turned into an entertainment venue as the Luang Pho Phet Worship Ceremony and the Muang Phichit Celebration returns to the northern town of Phichit with a wide range of traditional rituals and cultural performances that showcase the beauty of local culture.

Throughout the day, visitors can worship a sacred statue of Luang Pho Phet and ask for success, safety and good health in the Year of the Dragon. As dusk approaches, a parade of flower-decorated vehicles from 12 districts will be on display and the ubosot will be lit up with a spectacular light and sound show paying homage to Luang Pho Phet and the sword of Muang Phichit.

Other highlights include a Thai fabric fashion show on Saturday and a stunning illuminated boat procession on Jan 31. A troop of famous artists will take the stage for a concert and the market offers a wide selection of quality OTOP and handcrafted souvenirs as well as local food.
