Sing Buri is known for the brave people of Bang Rajan Village, who put up a valiant fight against Burmese invaders but if you want to see another side of the central province, consider the upcoming "Sang See Sing" (Let's Glow Singburi) festival, being held from Aug 18-27.
The 10-day festival is co-hosted by the Tourism Council of Singburi and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to the younger generation with the province's creative movements and traditional culture. The festival’s goal is also to stimulate the local economy for small entrepreneurs.
The key concept is to expand and reinterpret the province's strengths through art and contemporary design. Technology is used to help enhance Sing Buri's culture to create a new memorable travel experience.
The festival’s highlights are:
● Crosswalk Art is semi-permanent artwork in the form of a zebra crossing and is expected to become a new landmark of Sing Buri, supported by Jotun Thailand.
● Neon Light Art are semi-permanent installations in landmark buildings that reinterpret the story and symbols of Sing Buri.
● Hidden Sculptures Art called “Jai Jai Sing” is a semi-permanent installation in the form of a 2m-sculpture of a lion with a huge heart to reflect the identity of Sing Buri.
● The self-walking-guide “Wabu” mobile will be launched during the festival to encourage visitors to explore and have a little adventure on their own.
● Visit the Night Museum at Museum Singburi and see the historical Ror Sor 129 Court premise.
● Travellers can visit temples at night and watch the illumination of the almost 200-year-old buildings at Wat Phrom Sakhon and Wat Sawang Arom.
● Eat and shop for food and products along walking street or attend the Singburi Food Festival at Sing Buri Pavilion.
● Enjoy a theme park from the 90s, folk art performances and concerts from famous artists throughout the festival.
● Participate in DIY activities, such as making your own colourful phuang mahot wreath and an art workshop for children by Baan Kwai Art.
● Increase your digital media skills to develop tourism businesses and generate income for small entrepreneurs by joining the "Net Tham Kin" project in collaboration with True Corporation.
