Democrazy Theatre Studio presents One-Night Stand, a contemporary solo dance performance that takes viewers to explore humans’ sexual instincts, questioning
a woman’s raw desires and the accepted ideas of dignity and decency by putting her experiences of one-night stands under a magnifying glass.
Through movement, dialogue and audience interaction, Vidura Amranand, the sole performer and the show’s director, will expose audiences to the core of intimacy and their own nature and limits.
“I want to talk about sex as openly as possible,” she said. “If sex is natural for all animals, why can’t we talk about it normally?”
She would like to share her experiences of one-night stands and the many feelings involved with audience members. Vidura graduated from New York’s Sarah Lawrence College with a major in dance seven years ago and received the danceWEB scholarship at ImpulsTanz International Dance Festival in Vienna in 2011.
She has performed in The Last Schomburk’s Deer by Saifah Tantana, InTer’sView by Wichaya Artamat, Transaction by Thanapol Virulhakul and Last Gasp Of Mournful Heart by Nana Dakin and herself. She has also performed in several B-Floor productions.
One-Night Stand will be staged on March 24-28, March 31-April 4 and April 7-9, at 8pm.
Tickets cost 400 and 450 baht and are available from Democrazy Theatre Studio’s Facebook page.
The studio is on Soi Saphan Khu, next to Lumpini Tower, Rama IV Road.
