Dhanundhorn Neerasingh, left, and Chatayodom Hiranyathiti in a scene from The Sound Of Music.

The Thai version of the Broadway musical The Sound Of Music is being staged at Muang Thai Rachadalai Theatre, from today until April 26.

Set amid the beautiful background of the Austrian city of Salzburg, the story follows Maria, who leaves a convent to become the governess to the seven children of Captain Georg Von Trapp, a naval officer. She teaches them to sing, bringing back music into the hearts and home of the Von Trapp family.

Directed by Yutthana Lorphanpaiboon with designer Duangporn Boonyachinda taking care of the costumes, the Thai production features Chatayodom Hiranyathiti as Captain Von Trapp. Dhanundhorn “Fang” Neerasingh from girl group Faye Fang Kaew and singer Nathapatsorn “Dao” Simasthien will alternate playing Maria.

Also featured in the cast are singers Pijika “Lookwah” Jittaputta, Thanaporn Waekprayoon, Anurak Boonpermpoon and Thanee Poonsuwan.

The show is presented by Guts Entertainment. Muang Thai Rachadalai Theatre is located at The Esplanade shopping complex on Ratchadaphisek Road.

-  The play will be staged Thursday to Sunday, at 7.30pm, plus a 2pm matinee on weekends (no shows on April 16-19).

-  Tickets cost 1,000, 2,000, 2,500, 3,500, 4,000 and 4,500 baht and can be purchased from Thai Ticket Major (visit or call 02-262-3456).
