Official description

Thai street artist Bon will transform every floor, room and balcony of a Bangkok building with dramatic lighting, spray paint, moving sculptures and a few more surprises during his week-long solo show starting June 12.

The 33-year-old Thai artist has been painting, curating large-scale installations, etching and making sculptures for two years in preparation for his highly-anticipated “Bon Solo Show 2014”.

Last year, Bon flew (along with Alex Face) to the UK to open a dedicated show as part of Frieze London art fair, which was considered a runaway success for both the artists and the gallery, and received glowing reviews from the Financial Times, among other publications.

Bon sold all 30 of his works on opening night and went on to coat the streets of London with his art alongside graffiti legends Inkie, The London Police and Mau Mau.

The artist's style and ability to translate his street work into incredibly detailed and vibrant gallery paintings, sculptures and installations, sets him apart from many other street artists, and puts him at the forefront of Asian street art.

The venue for the upcoming solo show will be a former soy sauce factory on Charoen Krung Soi 24. It was recently reopened as a multidisciplinary art space featuring both large cavernous rooms and smaller project spaces.

The opening night on June 12 starts at 6.30pm and features live sound and interaction. The exhibition runs daily from 10am-7pm and wraps up on June 18.

A painting by Bon.

Bon has steadily built up his reputation as one of Asia’s most prolific street artists since graduating in fine arts in 2005. From Chiang Mai in the north to Hat Yai in the south, his trademark characters have appeared along roadsides, on shop shutters and just about every other type of surface.

In 2007, he met up with Souled Out Studios, an urban art gallery that represented two other well-known Thai street artists — AMP and Alex Face. Since then, his collector base has steadily grown worldwide, showing across Europe and Asia, and is now featured as one of the gallery’s most important artists.
