Official description

The Thai Youth Orchestra, the country’s oldest youth orchestra, will return in a special concert entitled “Tribute to HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, patron of Thai Youth Orchestra” at the Thailand Cultural Centre’s Main Hall, Ratchadaphisek Road, on Aug 30 starting at 2pm.

Held in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Promotion, the concert will be led by two directors — father and son Ajarn Phukorn and Dr Thaweewet “Paye” Srinarong.

They will present a new dimension of symphony performance with a repertoire including Felix Mendelssohn’s Double Concerto For Violin & Piano performed by prolific guest pianist Dr Pornphan Banternghansa. Paye will simultaneously perform the solo violin part while also conducting the orchestra.

Other special guests include soloist Nantawat Waranich on the French horn and the legendary Pantamitr voice-over team. For the first time, they will narrate Prokofiev’s favourite Peter And The Wolf and wrap up the feast with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

The afternoon concert will also see the youth orchestra perform music from the Jurassic Park series.

There is no admission fee but tickets can be reserved by calling the Thailand Cultural Centre on 02-247-0028 or by emailing info@viemus.com.
