It draws upon dialects, folk songs and memories of the seven dancers and their parents to create a piece of work that speaks with an emotionally charged language.

Since its inception in 2011, the production has toured major venues in France, Italy, China, Denmark and Malaysia.

This Bangkok debut show will kick off Education Through Movement, a three-week festival of international dance that will continue with nine more performances by nine other dance companies from around the world until Dec 4, also at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.

Organised for the 16th year by the Friends-of-the-Arts Foundation, the festival’s line-up includes Home by the ZfinMalta Dance Ensemble from Malta on Nov 23 and 24 at 7.30pm, Young Choreographer Showcase on Nov 26 at 2.30pm, Three Airs by the Park Na Hoon Dance Company from South Korea on Nov 26 and 27 at 7.30pm and Eros And Psyche by Compahia de Danca Contemoranea de Evora (CDCE) from Portugal on Nov 29 and 30 at 7.30pm.

Set to stage in December will be Water by the Miranda Chin Dance Company from Hong Kong on Dec 1 at 7.30pm and Young Talent Stage featuring excerpts from The Nutcracker and a variety of dance from hip-hop to Russian folk dance by Bangkok’s Dance Centre and Russian Embassy Ballet School on Dec 3 at 1.30pm.

The festival will conclude with a triple-bill performance featuring Humanity Fading Over Time by Prolific Visionary Production from Japan, Focus by Compagnie Kham from France and Spring Of Innocence, also by Prolific Visionary Production, on Dec 3 and 4 at 2.30pm.

All participating companies will conduct workshops and masterclasses from Nov 19 to Dec 2 at different venues in Bangkok.

Tickets cost 600, 1,200 and 1,800 baht for each performance and 600 baht for the workshop/masterclass. Tickets can be purchased from www.ticketmelon.com.
