A smorgasbord of artists young and old

More than 300 remarkable pieces of arts by prestigious and emerging artists will be displayed during the Bangkok Artisan 2017: Art & Artist Fair at Thanya Park from Saturday to Feb 26.

Held under the "Art Is Everything" theme, the premier art fair will bring together the finest and most diverse work by artists of various generations and disciplines. The vibrant creations include visual art, decorative art, architecture, performing art, films, music and digital art.

The fair is divided into seven zones, the highlight being the "Pasan Ngan Silp: Panuek Jai Tha Satit Nai Jai Nirun" exhibition, held to pay tribute to King Bhumibol. It features 89 art works of various techniques by artists from around the country, including King Rama 9, a masterpiece by world-renowned water painter LaFe (Sattha Homsawat).

The other zones will see an installation of sculptures by sculptor Pongthat Uayklang and design chairs by architect Dr Singh Intrachooto; a selection of 100 rarely seen oil paintings by national artists Prayad Pongdam, Panya Petchchu and Wichock Mukdamanee; art creations by youths with mental and physical disabilities; wall art by leading graffiti artists; and 20 works by students from several colleges and universities.

There will also be vocal and music performances of jazz, blues, fusion, pop and rock by the Silpakorn Student Jazz Ensemble every weekend from 1pm-6pm. The Office of Contemporary Art and Culture will also conduct free workshops on wood printing, weaving, printmaking and glass-etching every weekend from 3pm-6pm.

Thanya Park shopping mall is on Srinakarin Road and is open daily from 10am-8pm.

There is no admission fee. Visit facebook.com/bangkokartisanfair or call 02-108-6000.
