Official description

Central Embassy is celebrating Thai New Year with "A Sense Of Thai 2017", to include many activities that allow everyone to experience Thainess throughout the month.

The fair has seen the ground floor of the luxury shopping mall transformed into a sea of over 10,000 blooming red lotus flowers, where a replica of the revered white marble reclining Buddha of Wat Pa Phu Kon in Udon Thani is enshrined on a busabok, a small elaborate pavilion throne, for the public to bathe in for prosperity, until April 30. This red lotus sea is modelled after the real one, which is a famous tourist attraction and pilgrimage site in Udon Thani. On display among the replicated red lotuses are nine silver bells as a tribute to King Bhumibol. They are moulded from 99,999 silver leaves, each of which once carried a message of love written by Thais during the "King Of Our Hearts" campaign, which ran from last November to January of this year.

Central Embassy to be in blooming red all month long

Central Embassy is celebrating Thai New Year with "A Sense Of Thai 2017", to include many activities that allow everyone to experience Thainess throughout the month.

A selection of cultural performances from the four regions of Thailand are staged on the second floor until April 23. The programme includes rabam kai royal classical dance, soeng yae khai mod daeng, soeng kratip, ram muay (Thai-boxing dance), fon daab (sword dance), manora dance, fon leb (fingernail dance), pong-lang dance, and bamboo dance. Exclusively from tomorrow to Sunday, the Siam Philharmonic Orchestra, Sirimongkol Orchestra, Mahoree Bangkok and Klong Yao-Terd Terng will take turns performing Thai traditional music from noon to 6.30pm. The same floor will later see crafts and handmade products from Otop Heritage available for sale from April 17-23.

For foodies and shoppers, the Embassy Market on the 5th floor will offer the best of culinary recipes and products from the four corners of Thailand, from tomorrow to Sunday. However, the original recipe of khao chae and the royal recipes of other Thai favourite dishes are available only at the Eathai zone on the ground floor until April 30. Meanwhile, the adjacent Central Chidlom invites everyone to join the bath ritual of the Buddha statues from tomorrow to Sunday. Many cultural performances will also be presented, including traditional Thai puppet theater, fon khan dok (northern folk dance), klong sabad chai (drum with flipping and dancing), ram borankadee, a tall drum performance, Thai boxing shows and puppet shows.
