Japandroids, a two-piece band from Vancouver, will return to the Kingdom for a one-night-only gig at Route 66 Club, RCA, on Aug 14.
The Canadian rock duo started in 2006 and consists of Brian King and David Prowse. Conceived as a trio, the boys decided to forego having a lead singer and do it themselves.
As a result, Japandroids have one guitar, one set of drums, and two vocalists.
Japandroids are maximal - a two-piece band trying to sound like a five-piece band. Their songs run the gauntlet of rock 'n' roll subgenres, with the boys borrowing from too many different bands to sound like any other duo making music right now.
Rising to prominence in 2009 following the release of their debut album Post-Nothing, they have toured extensively and earned praise for their energetic live performances.
Their sophomore album Celebration Rock was released last May in Canada and last June internationally, after which they toured the UK, the US and Canada.
Their Bangkok gig is nearly two months away but as there are only 500 tickets, priced at 1,400 baht (1,000 baht for early birds), Thai fans had better hurry with the booking.
